No Less than Mediocre

We are into our fifth week on this road to fitness. I don’t know about you guys but I’m feeling great. Every day is a new challenge to face. Every day we try to do one thing better than the day before. Not only are we getting fit and eating healthier, but our relationship between each other—which I didn’t think was possible, has become so much more intimate. We get out and walk for an hour – or more if we have time. It is time together away from everything else. Away from housework, phone calls, text messages, emails, kids, cats, and dogs! It is nice to have the “quiet time” to catch up with each other, and talk about things that most days would go on the wayside. If you have an exercise buddy, have you noticed your relationship? Isn’t it improving? When you put the time in with someone you care about, good things are bound to happen.

In everything you do, do it to the best of your ability. Do nothing less than mediocre. If you want to succeed, you have to want to succeed. Nothing comes easy…if it did everyone would be doing it.

Joe and I are getting into a little competition lately. If I go 4.15 miles, he walks 4.25 miles. If I do the first mile in less than 17 minutes, he does the second mile in less than 16 minutes. We are inspiring each other to go the extra mile, or so to speak.  His new challenge he has offered up is whoever is slowest in their mile, they have to remove a piece of clothing. Don’t think I’m not bundling up in mega-layers!  Ha! Ha! These are the kinds of things that will make your routine fun and exciting, as well as challenging. If you are not challenging yourself or each other, you are not really putting in the effort. Go for it!

Get out there and do it, dig it, live for today and make it better than yesterday!

Until next time,

  1. This is one of my favs Ella. Nothing of value comes easy, but it is in the work that the value is recognized. It sounds like you guys are having fun. Sounds like Joe has a plan for summer- you can not bundle up then, LOL. Have fun kids and as always thanks for the encouragement.
